The University of Western Australia is one of the Group of Eight (http://www.go8.edu.au), research-intensive universities in Australia, is celebrating its centenary this year and next and recently ranked 96th in the world on the Jiao Tong Academic Ranking of World Universities.
It has a strong history of medical research including Professors Barry Marshall and Robin Warren being awarded the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 2005 for their research into the role of Helicobactor pylori in stomach ulcers.
