Abstract
The 13th International Symposium on Mutation in the Genome: detection, genome sequencing and interpretation took place from April 26th to 30th 2015 in Leiden, The Netherlands. Over 40 oral presentations, posters, company lectures and keynote talks on the exploration of the genome were presented, covering six main areas: new resources and tools, RNA technologies, single-cell analysis, quality assessment, variant interpretation in the clinical context, and sharing of samples and data. This report is an excerpt of the key points addressed by the speakers and questions from the audience, as well as the main conclusions from the meeting. The 2015 Leiden meeting was the last Mutation Detection symposium that Prof. Richard G. H. Cotton co-organized. Hereby, the authors would like to pay a warm tribute to Prof. Cotton, initiator and catalyst of this biennial forum.
