Bio-Prodict is focused on delivering solutions for guiding scientific research in the field of protein engineering, molecular design and DNA diagnostics. We apply novel approaches to data mining, storage and analysis of protein data and combine these with state-of-the art analysis methods and visualization tools to create custom-built information systems for protein superfamilies.
Over the years, these systems have proved to be powerful instruments for understanding many of the complex aspects involved in protein function and mutation effect prediction.
Role within Neuromics
Bio-Prodict will build 3DM databases. 3DM databases are protein family databases designed to make predictions in proteins. 3DM initially was designed for mutation prediction in the field of protein engineering. In this project Bio-Prodict will design new modules specific for mutation prediction in human proteins that are known to be involved in the rare diseases that are topic of Neuromics. For this, Bio-Prodict will firstly develop 3DM databases for the proteins that are, when mutated, known to cause these diseases. Secondly, Bio-Prodict will develop software that can distinguish between pathogenic mutations and non-pathogenic variants. Thirdly, Bio-Prodict will develop software that can rank mutations on the likelihood that mutations are pathogenic.
